Refund and Cancellation Policy

Small groups mean a cancelled seat is rarely refilled at short notice, so this policy tries to be fair in both directions: generous while a program has not started, honest about what we cannot recover once it has, and unconditional when the studio is the one that cancels.

01 Scope

This policy applies to all four programs offered by Silverline Equipment: Content Writing Fundamentals ($480), Editorial Skills Workshops ($650), Publication Planning Courses ($720) and Content Organization Training ($540). It forms part of our Terms of Service. Where a written confirmation of your seat says something different, that confirmation governs.

02 Before a program starts

You may cancel a confirmed seat by writing to our admissions mailbox. What you receive back depends on when the message arrives, measured against the start time of the first session in your group.

Notice givenRefundTransfer option
14 days or more before the first sessionFull refund of the program feeFree transfer to any later group
7 to 13 days before75 percent of the program feeFree transfer to any later group
2 to 6 days before50 percent of the program feeTransfer to the next group, one time
Less than 48 hours beforeNo refundTransfer at our discretion

A transfer keeps the full value of what you paid, so it is almost always the better option if your circumstances have changed but your intention has not. Each seat may be transferred once; a second change is treated as a cancellation on the date it is requested.

03 The first-session guarantee

If you attend the first session of a program and decide the method is not what you expected, write to us within three days of that session and we will refund the full fee. No explanation is required, and we would rather you tell us honestly than sit through five more sessions you do not want.

One session in, a full refund on request. After that, we have delivered a real part of the program and the fee reflects it.

The guarantee applies once per participant, and it applies to the first program you take with us. It is not available where a seat was already transferred twice, or where the first session was missed rather than attended.

04 After a program starts

Once the second session has begun, fees are not refundable. Instruction has been delivered, materials have been released, group size has been fixed around your seat, and we cannot recover that cost.

There are two exceptions. Where a documented medical emergency, bereavement, or a required relocation prevents you from continuing, we will credit the value of the sessions you have not attended toward a future group, valid for twelve months. Where we are at fault — a session cancelled and never rescheduled, or a program materially different from its published description — you receive a cash refund for the affected part.

05 Missed sessions

We do not refund individual missed sessions, because the instructor and the room are booked whether or not you arrive. What we do instead: send you the session materials, note where the group got to, and where the calendar allows, offer a thirty-minute catch-up conversation before the following session.

If you miss more than half the sessions in a program, we may ask you to rejoin a later group from the start rather than continue, so the group you are in is not held back. In that case the fee already paid carries over in full.

06 When we cancel

Occasionally a group does not fill, an instructor is unavailable, or the studio is inaccessible. If we cancel a program before it starts, you choose between a full refund and a seat in the next group. If we cancel partway through, you receive a refund of the fee for every session not delivered, or a credit of the same value, whichever you prefer.

Where we move a session rather than cancel it — a new date, a new time, or a switch to a remote format — we will tell you as early as we can. If the change does not work for you and no alternative date does either, that session is refunded.

07 Organizational bookings

Where an employer books seats for a team, the same schedule in section two applies to the booking as a whole. Substituting one participant for another at no charge is possible up to twenty-four hours before the first session; after that a substitution is treated as a transfer. Refunds are returned to the paying organization, not to individual participants.

08 How refunds are paid

Refunds go back through the original payment method. We approve eligible requests within five business days of receiving them, and the funds usually appear within a further five to ten business days depending on your bank or card issuer. We do not charge an administrative fee for processing a refund.

We refund the program fee. We do not reimburse costs you incurred around the program — travel, accommodation, software, printing or time — since those are arranged by you with third parties.

09 Currency and payment charges

All fees are quoted and refunded in United States dollars. If your bank converts currency or charges a cross-border fee, that charge is between you and your bank, and the amount that lands in your account may differ slightly from the amount we sent. We refund the dollar figure we received.

10 Chargebacks

Please write to us before disputing a payment with your card issuer. A chargeback freezes the amount for weeks and rarely resolves the underlying question faster than an email does. Where a chargeback is raised for a program that was delivered as described, we will provide the issuer with the enrollment record, the attendance record and this policy.

11 Course materials after a refund

The licence to use our course materials ends when a refund is issued. Materials already downloaded should be deleted, and they may not be used in your own teaching or shared further. Anything you wrote yourself remains yours without restriction.

12 No certificates, no credential refunds

All of our programs are educational and non-certified in nature. There is no certificate, diploma, licence or accreditation to withdraw when a refund is issued, and none is ever implied by attendance. Refunds concern the fee and nothing else.

13 Requesting a cancellation

Write to the admissions mailbox listed below with your name, the program, the group dates and, if you have it, the invoice reference. We confirm every request in writing on the same business day it is received, and the date of your message — not the date of our reply — decides which row of the table in section two applies.

14 Disagreements

If you think this policy has been applied incorrectly, write to our support mailbox and ask for a review. A second person looks at the record and answers within ten business days. Where a review does not settle the matter, the dispute provisions in our Terms of Service apply.

15 Changes

We may revise this policy for future groups. The version in force when you enrolled governs your seat, and we will attach the current version to any written confirmation we send you.
