Terms of Service

These Terms of Service govern your use of this website and your participation in the educational programs offered by Silverline Equipment, a training studio based at 250 W Main St, Lexington, KY 40507. Please read them in full before submitting an enrollment request. By using the site or joining a program, you accept everything written below.

01 Who we are and what we sell

Silverline Equipment is a training studio that teaches content writing and editorial skills. Our catalogue consists of four programs: Content Writing Fundamentals, Editorial Skills Workshops, Publication Planning Courses, and Content Organization Training. Each program is a sequence of instructional sessions with exercises, worked examples and written feedback.

Everything we provide is educational and non-certified in nature. We do not offer accredited instruction, degree programs, professional licensing, examination administration, publishing services, or advertising activities. We do not act as a placement agency, a literary agency, a publisher, or a marketing vendor, and we do not represent your work to third parties.

We teach method. We do not issue credentials, and no part of our training should be presented as a qualification, licence or accreditation of any kind.

02 Accepting these terms

You accept these terms when you do any of the following: browse this website, submit the enrollment request form, correspond with us about a program, pay a program fee, or attend a session. If you do not agree with any part of this document, please do not submit a request and do not attend.

If you are enrolling on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these terms for that organization, and that the organization is bound by them along with you.

03 Eligibility

Our programs are written for adults who work with text in a professional or semi-professional capacity. You must be at least eighteen years old to enroll. Participants under eighteen may not be enrolled, and we do not knowingly collect information from minors through the enrollment form.

We do not require prior formal education, a portfolio, or an entrance test. We do assume you can read and write fluently in English, since all sessions and materials are delivered in English.

04 Enrollment requests

The form on this website is a request, not a booking. Submitting it places you on our list for the group you selected. A seat exists only once we have replied in writing confirming the program, the dates, the fee and the payment arrangement, and you have confirmed in return.

We may decline a request. Reasons include a full group, a mismatch between the program and your stated goals, an incomplete request, or conduct that suggests the group would not work well. Where we decline for a mismatch we will usually suggest the program we think fits better.

Please make sure the details you submit are accurate. If the email address or phone number is wrong we cannot reach you, and a seat cannot be held indefinitely while we try.

05 Fees and payment

Program fees are published on this website in United States dollars and are quoted per participant for the full program:

  • Content Writing Fundamentals — $480 for six weekly sessions.
  • Editorial Skills Workshops — $650 for four workshops.
  • Publication Planning Courses — $720 for five sessions.
  • Content Organization Training — $540 for three sessions.

Fees cover instruction, exercises, worked examples, templates where a program uses them, and written feedback during the program. They do not cover travel, accommodation, software licences, printing, or any third-party service you may choose to buy alongside the training.

Unless we agree otherwise in writing, the fee is payable in full before the first session. A seat that is unpaid at the start of a program may be released to the next person on the list. Prices may change for future groups; the price confirmed to you in writing is the price for your group.

06 Changes, cancellation and refunds

Cancellations, transfers between groups, missed sessions and refunds are handled under our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms. In summary: you may cancel for a full refund before a program begins within the window set out in that policy, transfers to a later group are possible where space allows, and we refund in full if we cancel a group ourselves.

We may change a session time, move a session online, or substitute an instructor of comparable experience where circumstances require it. Where a change materially alters what you signed up for, we will tell you and offer a transfer or a refund of the unused part of the fee.

07 How sessions run

Sessions are working sessions. You will be asked to bring your own drafts, to read work aloud, to edit in the room, and to receive direct comment on the structure of your writing. Feedback is candid and is aimed at the text, never at the person.

Groups are deliberately small. That only works if participants arrive on time, prepared, and willing to engage with other people's material as carefully as their own. Recording a session, in audio or video, is not permitted without our written consent, because participants share unpublished work in confidence.

08 Your conduct

While using this website or participating in a program, you agree not to: harass, insult or intimidate any participant or instructor; disclose or republish another participant's unpublished work; disrupt sessions; misrepresent your identity or affiliation; attempt to interfere with the operation or security of this website; or use our materials to build a competing course.

We may remove a participant from a program for serious or repeated breaches of this section. Where we do, we will explain the reason in writing, and we will refund the fee for sessions not yet delivered unless the breach caused us direct loss.

09 Course materials and intellectual property

All course materials — session outlines, exercises, worked examples, templates, checklists, slides, handouts and recordings we produce — remain the property of Silverline Equipment. When you enroll, we grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use those materials for your own work and your own learning, for as long as you like.

That licence does not allow you to publish the materials, share them with people outside the program, resell them, or use them to deliver training of your own, whether paid or free. Internal use inside your own employer's team is permitted where your employer paid for your seat.

The name Silverline Equipment, our wordmark, the layout and text of this website, and the photographic direction used across it are ours and may not be reproduced without permission.

10 Your work stays yours

Anything you write remains entirely yours. We claim no rights over drafts, outlines, calendars or finished pieces you bring to a session or produce during one. We do not publish participant work, and we do not use it in marketing.

If we ever want to quote a short passage from a participant's work as a teaching example in a future group, we will ask first and we will accept a refusal without argument.

11 No guarantee of outcome

We teach a method for structuring, editing, planning and organizing written material. We cannot and do not guarantee any particular result from that training. Nothing on this website or in any conversation with us is a promise of publication, readership, employment, promotion, client work, revenue or professional recognition.

Writing outcomes depend on your practice, your market, your audience and factors none of us control. Please treat any example, figure or case discussed in a session as illustration, not as a forecast.

12 No professional advice

Our sessions sometimes touch on subjects adjacent to writing: contracts, attribution, rates, publishing workflows, disclosure requirements. Any comment we make on such subjects is general educational commentary and is not legal, financial, tax, medical or other professional advice. Consult a qualified professional in the relevant field before acting on anything of that kind.

13 Website availability

We work to keep this website available and accurate, but we provide it as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components, and we may change, suspend or withdraw any part of it without notice. Program descriptions and prices are kept current, but where a description and a written confirmation disagree, the written confirmation governs your seat.

14 Third-party links and services

This website and our materials may reference third-party tools, publications or resources. Those references are for study only. We do not control third-party sites or services, we receive no commission for mentioning them, and we accept no responsibility for their content, terms or privacy practices.

15 Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Silverline Equipment is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, lost business opportunity, or reputational harm, arising out of or connected with your use of this website or your participation in a program.

Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you actually paid us for the program that gave rise to the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including liability for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

16 Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Silverline Equipment against claims, losses and reasonable costs arising from your breach of these terms, from your misuse of course materials, or from content you bring to a session that infringes another person's rights.

17 Privacy

We handle personal information under our Privacy Policy, and we use cookies and similar technologies as described in our Cookie Policy. Both documents form part of these terms. In short: we collect what we need to run enrollment and teaching, we keep it as long as we must, and we do not sell it.

18 Communications

When you submit an enrollment request you are asking us to reply, so we will contact you about that request, the program you selected, and the practical arrangements around it. Administrative messages of that kind are part of the service. If you later ask us to stop writing to you, we will, though we may not be able to keep a seat open without a reply.

19 Force majeure

Neither party is responsible for failing to perform where the cause is outside reasonable control, including severe weather, utility failure, public health measures, transport disruption or civil emergency. Where such an event prevents a session, we will reschedule it, deliver it remotely, or refund the unused part of the fee.

20 Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the studio grows and our programs change. The version published on this page is the current one, and the effective date is shown at the top. Material changes will not be applied retroactively to a program you have already paid for; the version in force when you enrolled governs that enrollment.

21 Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the applicable federal laws of the United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The state and federal courts sitting in Fayette County, Kentucky have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, and both parties submit to that jurisdiction.

Before starting formal proceedings, please write to us and give us thirty days to resolve the matter directly. Most disagreements about a program can be settled with a conversation and a corrected invoice.

22 General provisions

If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, the rest remains in force. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these terms without our written consent; we may transfer ours as part of a reorganization of the studio. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy, Refund and Cancellation Policy, Educational Disclaimer and any written confirmation of your seat, form the whole agreement between us.
